As a person who gets cold easily but who loves showing off my calves in a kilt, I have a love affair with tall, warm socks. As a budding scientist, I've found inspiration in my classes—most especially biological structures. So what was there for me to do but design something with the elegant double helix of DNA?
This pattern is for Adult size XS/S/M/L knee-high socks, to fit feet with a circumference of 7/8/9/10in (18/20.5/23/25.5cm). They are knit from the cuff down completely in the round, with a heel flap and gusseted instep. Don't want them to go up to the knee? There are directions included to modify them for mid-calf height.

Suggested Yarn: Cascade Heritage Silk [85% Superwash Merino Wool, 15% Silk; 437yd/400m per 100g skein]; color: Italian Plum; 2 skeins
Suggested Needle Size: US 1/2.25mm
Gauge: 32 sts x 48 rws = 4 inches/10 cm stockinette stitch
